Even though the margin between the two candidates has grown substantially since Friday, it's too bad that Stevens couldn't even vote for himself to close that gap by at least ONE vote! The BBC reported today that there are still 24,000 votes to be counted in Alaska and Begich's lead is only a bit more than a thousand. It's interesting to see the provisional ballots be reached for once again, although it seems as though there's a lot less controversy as to the voter's intent. This is supported by the fact that the remaining votes to be recounted all come from counties where Mayor Begich has already performed well. Once this election is decided, it's up to Minnesota and Georgia to settle their recount-issues to see whether or not there's a Democratic majority in the Senate. Georgia requires a run-off re-vote because neither candidate obtained the majority. Their election will be held Dec. 2nd and hopefully settled soon after. How interesting that the results from Congress won't be available for a solid FOUR WEEKS (at least!) after November 4th....
