This is an interesting article discussing some of the voter fraud issues we heard about from Chris Shortell this week.

Holy cow.
I'm assuming that the "Lazy Crackheads" were using their artificial persons to vote absentee?

Nevada is an interesting state this year because it's definitely a swing state (according to CNN's polls from last night, NV was leaning Obama) but also because it allows absentee ballots, AND Nevada has a system for early voting. This means that usu. 10-14 days before the election, the Auditor's office, schools, sometimes even grocery stores (!!) have voting machines (the same ones used for in-person voting on election day) open to the registered voters of 31 states.
(I didn't know about this until I just did some research. I wonder if this means we'll be having a clearer picture of what our popular vote looks like before the end of the month!)
It's really too bad that ACORN has been receiving a lot of bad press. I wonder if they participated less in WA (less to report to the authorities!) or if they're still trying to rally voters before our gubernatorial election. I heard it's going to be really close between Gregoire and Rossi again.

ACORN and alleged Voter Fraud: Abcnews.com

ACORN was founded on noble, if not somewhat idealistic principles. According to a company spokesperson, one of their primary goals is to empower the underclass. Notwithstanding criticisms, ACORN has been very successful in this campaign. Since inception, ACORN has been making their way in to communities to collect an unprecedented quantity of registrations. Although some of the registrations come from their “marketing” campaign, many more of the registrations come from an enormous “demand” created by two important demographical categories i.e. younger and lower-income voters. Company records show as many as 3 million new registrars since ’04 and 1.3 million new registrations in ‘07. With a sudden overwhelming demand and an inability to compensate employees adequately, ACORN is finding it very difficult to hire and maintain responsible workers. Although ACORN may have altruistic intentions, according a member of the ACORN field staff, many of the recruits appear to be more interested in receiving a paycheck than ensuring registration accuracy.
Even given the enormous amount of inaccuracies, there is no evidence of ACORN registrations being used to cast fraudulent votes. According to statistics, fraudulent votes are scarce compared to the enormous occurrence of unwarranted “voter roll purging” (I will provide documentation and statistics as to why I use the word unwarranted in my research paper). Many believe (including myself) the McCain spin doctors are using the ACORN inaccuracies to muddle the real problems associated with US elections. Voter roll purging is a documented problem that is taking away from the fundamental rights of a huge demographic of voters. Changes need to be made to the oversight of groups like ACORN, but we also need to tackle the bigger issue of voter roll purging, which reduces the fundamental right to all Americans to vote.
ACORN is becoming a convenient distraction for the John McCain campaign. It is just another highly politicized diversion that happens at higher frequencies during a hotly contested election year s. Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of the US voter. The confidence level in the legitimacy of elections is crucial to the American people. We need to make sure that first and foremost, the rights of the American voter are protected. Voting rights is the cornerstone to our democracy. If the American people lose faith in our election system, the most integral component of our sense of social equality will be lost.
